ABC's Scandal was trimmed down a few episodes because the main star, Kerry Washington can no longer conceal her pregnancy while filming.

According to TVLine, the third season of the hit-show was shortened from 22 episodes because Washington's baby bump is getting in the way and it seems creator Shonda Rhimes has no intent of recreating the story line in that direction.

Though rumors insisted that Scandal wasn't performing well, it's getting much more difficult for Washington to hide her pregnancy in loose-fitting clothes.

"The actress' spring due date would've made shooting those final four episodes next to impossible," TV Line's Michael Ausiello wrote.

Washington has yet to announce her pregnancy, but an alleged friend of the actress told Us Weekly back in October that "she's about four months along."

In a recent interview with Glamour magazine, Washington explained why she prefers to keep her private life a secret.

"I learned through experience that it doesn't work for me," she said. "I've had earlier times in my career when I did talk about it. But I couldn't just turn around and say, 'I only want to talk about the good stuff, but not the bad stuff.' So I just thought, 'Okay, no more.'"

"I'm walking around in the world with my ring. And when people say congratulations, I say thank you," she said about being a newlywed.

Washington and husband Nnamdi Asomugha exchanged vows in a secret ceremony in June.

"It has been recorded in the Blaine County clerk's office that Nnamdi Asomugha and Kerry Washington have been married on the 24th of June in the town of Hailey, Idaho," a representative for the clerk's office said in a statement.
