Thor fans can rejoice, as Marvel studios has confirmed that a third installment will join the popular franchise via an announcement about the screenwriter.

The company has announced that Craig Kyle, who has transitioned from a Senior Vice-President of Production and Development to become a fulltime screenwriter, will co-write the script to the next installment of Thor with longtime collaborator Christopher Yost.

"I am proud of Craig and have enjoyed working with him over these past years," Kevin Feige, the producer of Thor: The Dark World said. "His creative instincts have helped shape Thor and Thor: The Dark World at every level of the filmmaking process. The entire team at Marvel is very happy to continue collaborating with Craig as he continues as a screenwriter working with Christopher on the forthcoming chapter of Thor's adventure."

Kyle previously served as the executive producer on Thor: The Dark World, which has become Marvel's third-highest grossing film to date behind Iron Man 3 and 2012's The Avengers.

A third Thor film is not the only announcement that has come from the studio in the last week.

Enstars previously reported that Marvel is considering giving a green light to a third Captain America film as well, despite the latest installment, Captain America: The Winter Soldier not arriving in theaters until April 4.

The studio has reportedly been very impressed with how brothers, Joe and Anthony Russo, directed Winter Soldier, that they have already signed them on for a potential third installment, provided Winter Soldier performs well in theaters.

Thor: The Dark World will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray Feb. 25.
