The 23-year-old ABC star was groped by a fan outside of Sebel Pier One in Sydney on Tuesday, according to E!. The site claims that the incident took place during a photo op when a male fan grabbed the actress' breast.

Luckily, E! reports that security quickly intervened and police later arrested a 29-year-olf in relation to the assault.

Hayland quickly departed the event, and despite her completely justified reasons for leaving, the actress later tweeted an apology to any other fans that were hoping to meet her Tuesday evening.

"Sorry to all the fans outside the #quantas event that I didn't get to say hi to but I had to leave due to an inappropriate touch by a fan," Hayland wrote.

The actress' boyfriend, however, was quick to vent his anger via Twitter.

"To the asshole who assaulted Sarah tonight I hope to God you don't see next week," wrote Matt Prokop, adding, "All Sarah wanted to do tonight was say hi to the girls who were waiting outside one douche can ruin it for everyone. Goodnight."

Some followers didn't respond well to his criticism, but Prokop stood his ground.

"I'm done with twitter. Yes I believe someone who sexually assaults a women or man for the matter deserves a shit life. Piss off twitter," Prokop responded.

Hopefully the series can continue filming in Australia without further incident.

Hayland can be seen as Haley Dunphy on Modern Family, Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET. Click the video below to see a preview of the series' next episode, "The Feud."
