Homeland "Jumped the Shark" in Season 3?

The fourth season of Homeland is said to be much more different than the previous three seasons. Showrunner Alex Gansa told TVLine after the season 3 finale that they were considering setting Carrie (Claire Danes) in Istanbul in season 4.

"One of the ideas that we're really toying around with next year is [to have] Carrie go and do what she was trained to do, and that is be a case officer in a foreign country," Gansa explained. "And as she mentioned to Sen. Lockhart [Tracy Letts], she gets to choose her own people. So Quinn [Rupert Friend], Fara [Nazanin Boniadi] . . . Virgil [David Marciano] and possibly Max [Maury Sterling] may come along with her. We get to bring some of our familiar faces overseas."

Meanwhile, Saul (Mandy Patinkin) would be continuing his work as a private contractor for the CIA, as previewed in season 3 finale.

Gansa said that while Saul may not have a desk at the CIA anymore, he will still be involved with them in a different way.

Brody's (Damian Lewis) family will no longer be a part of the show in a major way in season 4, with both Morena Baccarin (who plays Jessica Brody) and Morgan Saylor (Dana Brody) being dropped to guest star status.
