The most prominent actress to ever play Wonder Woman has officially weighed in on Gal Gadot's casting for the role in Man of Steel 2.

Holly Hunter & More Actors Join Batman vs Superman Cast In New Roles?

Lynda Carter, who played the lasso-toting superhero in the 1970s TV series Wonder Woman, spoke with The Huffington Post this week about Gadot, and the actress noted that she is on her side.

"I'm in her corner," Carter said, discussing Gadot. "I just hope they write well for her!" While Gadot was initially criticized for being too small to inhabit the muscular Wonder Woman, Carter suggested that it doesn't matter as long as she is able to capture the character accurately.

Batman vs Superman Writer Not Paying Attention To Fans' Wants?

"I'm very hopeful she embodies the essence of Wonder Woman," Carter said. "It's less about super powers and more about heart and intellect and a sense of right and wrong with a goodness in her."

Carter admitted to one potential route the writers could go with Wonder Woman that she doesn't want them to go down.

"Often times, writers really want to take a male superhero and dress him up as a female - and that's just not who she is," Carter said.

Gadot has reportedly been working out and dieting in preparation to play the iconic superhero. This is the first time Wonder Woman is being depicted in a big screen blockbuster, so the actress is taking her opportunity very seriously.

Proper filming has yet to begin on Man of Steel 2.

Man of Steel 2 is scheduled for release in theaters on May 6, 2016.
