It seems like a new species of Transformers will be introduced with Transformers: Age of Exinction, Michael Bay revealed in a recent interview.

While talking about the film in an interview with Entertainment Weekly on April 11, Bay spoke about a mysterious new entrant in the Transformers world, who is not concerned with the already established enemies and out on a completely different mission.

The director spoke about Lockdown, whom not much had been known about until now. He suggested that Lockdown could not be boxed and defined, as it is neither completely an autobot or decepticon. But what has been revealed is that Lockdown will be able to transform in a Lamborghini Aventador.

"Lockdown is an interesting character. He travels the galaxy, he works for somebody else. And he's here for one person, one alien, and then he's out of here," Bay said. "So he doesn't really want to take sides. The cause and balance of the galaxy is kind of messed up when different species play with different species. And that opens up a whole other gigantic world for Transformers."

Bay went on to talk about Lockdown's mysterious ship that is seen in the trailers and posters.

"Lockdown's ship has a lot of meaning that can go into other movies. There's a lot of backcstory about that ship that's not laid out here," he says. "You're going to see a few things where you're like 'What is that? And what is that?' And you're going to see a couple shots like, 'Wait a minute, who are they?' But we don't answer those questions."

Seems like this new character will set the stage for what's to come in the upcoming Transformers films and what Bay revealed as new Transformers trilogy.

Transformers: Age of Extinction will release on Jun. 27 2014.
