News anchor vet Diane Sawyer, 68, took a selfie with GMA anchor Robin Roberts, 53 while celebrating yesterday's Earth Day in New York's Central Park.  Along with Robert's girlfriend Amber Laign, 39, the three have plenty to celebrate about!

Sawyer posted on Twitter: "Every day is a beautiful day with friends @RobinRoberts #GlobalSelfie."

Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts Had 2 Years To Live, Saved By Girlfriend's Love

The two friends met two decades ago on GMA and formed a strong bond. Both are pioneers as female anchors in a majority male dominated profession.  Sawyer landed her first broadcasting job in the late sixties.  Roberts is one of very few openly gay (and black) news broadcasters.

Roberts battled breast cancer as well as a rare blood and bone marrow disease called myelodysplastic (MDS) - which she was diagnosed with in 2012.  Through her storm, she leaned heavily on her friend Sawyer and her girlfriend Laign for support:

"All I remember is just this calm, this absolute calm, coming from Diane," she said.

"People talk about how women can't get along. They say women in positions of authority, they're the worst enemies.

"And that happens from time to time, but Diane and I feel we complement each other."

Roberts told Parade that Sawyer was her "soul sister" and was "calling every specialist in the world" to help. "She puts her life on hold when someone close to her is going through something like this."

Additionally, Roberts revealed that she could not have gotten through her life-threatening sickness without her girlfriend of 10 years, Laign, a massage therapist. Roberts was given only two years to live without a transplant.

In her memoir, Everybody's Got Something, Roberts says, "I felt so grateful knowing that whatever was ahead of me, I wouldn't have to go through it alone."

Roberts went on to say in People Magazine on April 16, "Even though Amber is someone who shies away from the spotlight, it was important for me to let people know I have this person in my life."

Having beaten two cancers, Roberts has been given the go ahead by doctors and is ecstatic to back hosting Good Morning America.

"I feel like I am a walking miracle," she said.
