With the latest news about Terminator 5: Genesis, more information about the trilogy this film will start up are surfacing.

Leaked Script Reveals Scene Evoking Original Film and Featuring Older, 'Bearded' Terminator? 

Recently it was revealed that British actor Matt Smith (Doctor Who) will be joining the cast of the film and was the final major piece of casting in the film. What was more interesting to learn was that he would not only play an ally to John Connor but would also be an integral part of the trilogy. As Smith's character is new to the plot this could mean fans can expect completely fresh twists from this trilogy.

The other two films that will complete the trilogy will be filmed back to back over a span of nine months, according to reports. No other details about how the plot will evolve and if the next two films will also be directed by Alan Taylor, have been given away.

What we do know about Terminator: Genesis is that it will feature time travel scenes to contextualise the film vis-a-vis the other fillms in the franchise. It seems like the franchise is going the Batman route in terms of pumping out modern day sequels and prequels, something Enstars had predicted last year.

Taylor, had previously suggested that his inspirations for the reboot were derived from the Batman series

Taylor spoke about how much he loved the first two films in the Terminator franchise.

"We all love the first two and I actually went back and watched them again and my respect level only went up for those first two," he said of The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day.

The director went on to speak of a similar franchise being an inspiration for the fifth Terminator, suggesting that two films in the Batman franchise were "wonderful."

Terminator: Genesis to Conflate Plots of The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day?  

The film stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, who will reprise his role as the iconic cyborg, Emilia Clarke, who has been cast for the part of Sarah Connor, and Jason Clarke as John Connor.

Terminator 5 is scheduled to release in July 2015.
