Though he did sign on to reprise his role as Han Solo in Star Wars: Episode VII, Harrison Ford may have once admitted to not liking the character nearly as much as the one he portrayed in the Indiana Jones series.

Announcement of Three Additional 'Star Wars' Films Bad News For 'Indiana Jones?'

In a new article in Entertainment Weekly, the magazine looks back at a 2008 interview with Ford, where he expressed hatred for his Star Wars character.

"He's dumb as a stump," the actor said at the time. ‘He's got a good heart, but I think he's certainly a much less interesting character than Indiana Jones. "

Harrison Ford Not Returning For 'Indiana Jones' 5?

"The breadth of his story utility was never extensive," he continued. "He was the foil between the other more compelling elements of the film, between the sage old warrior and the young hero. There's not much breadth of character to explore beyond what we got out of him."

It wasn't the first time Ford had expressed disdain for the iconic character, as he even did press back when Return of the Jedi first opened in 1983 where he said he was fine with saying goodbye to Han Solo.

"Three's enough for me," he said at the time. "I was glad to see that costume for the last time."

These comments resurfacing seem to contrast the actor's decision to sign on for the newest installment in the Star Wars franchise, though it could give more credence to reports that he only signed on as part of a deal with Disney to also reprise his role as the famed action hero historian at a later date.

Reports circulated in February that Ford wasn't willing to sign on to play Han Solo again unless Disney would let him be contracted again for not only Indiana Jones 5, but a sixth film as well.

"Regarding Harrison Ford, two more Indiana Jones features are in the negotiation stages as per Ford's contract clause on Star Wars, which is the primary reason he didn't 'publicly' or 'privately' commit, or so I'm told," a source told MarketSaw back in February.

If Ford refused to sign on to Star Wars until he had worked out a separate deal for the Indiana Jones franchise, fans could potentially expect an announcement for the film soon.
