Agent Carter won't hit your TV sets until January, but Marvel fans can already get a first look at ABC's newest comic book venture.

Featuring Captain America: The First Avengers' Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), the series will transport viewers back to 1946. In the wake of World War Two, Carter has found herself oppressed under the thumb of the patriarchy and simply referred to as "Captain America's old flame." Fully confident that she can take on missions of her own (as well she can, we've all seen her do it before), Carter earns the SSR's (Strategic Scientific Reserve) disapproval and Howard Stark's (Dominic Cooper) approval when she uses her formidable field skills to close a case on her own. Iron Man's father then invites Carter to work down in Washington.

We've seen the newest trailer and trust us, Agent Carter is definitely shaping up to be every bit as action packed as Atwell's previous Marvel endeavors.

Described by Paul Lee, the president of ABC Entertainment Group, as an "origin story for SHIELD," it seems only fitting that Agent Carter will fill the void left by Marvel's Agents of SHIELD when it breaks for a winter hiatus. Starting in January, Marvel fans will get a chance to see Carter kick some supernatural butt on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
