Castle fans can expect a double dose of Rick (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) in the fall as the show sets out to explore the fiery car crash that occurred in the Season 6 finale.

Season 7 of Castle will open with a two-part episode written by new showrunner David Amann and directed by Rob Bowman, according to a new TVLine report. This suggests that plenty of time will be devoted to solving the mystery of what caused Rick to get into a fiery car crash on his way over to his wedding with Beckett. The ending was very divisive among the Castle fanbase who had been wanting the pair to get married.

The TVLine report also reveals that there will be an important guest role in the premiere. There will be a character named Henry who is "intelligent yet unassuming" and is able to blend in with a crowd.

Other guest characters for the episode include a Hamptons police sergeant, a doctor, a psychiatrist and a Coast Guard captain.

Castle has seen a relatively significant shakeup behind-the-scenes heading into its seventh season. Series creator Andrew W. Marlowe has stepped down from his post as showrunner, allowing Amann to assume the position. Marlowe will still be a producer on the show but he is interested in developing other projects.

Castle Season 7 is set to debut in the fall on ABC, though the network has not yet announced a specific air date. It will be returning to its regular Mondays at 10 p.m. timeslot.
