The fifth season of Downton Abbey has finally gotten a release date.

'Downton Abbey' Actress Dishes On The Christmas Special

As announced from GPB Blogs on Wednesday, the British drama will return with new episodes on Sunday, January 4 2015. It appears that the fans in England will be able to watch it earlier sometime this fall while the viewers in America have to wait six more months.

As for how the premiere episode will begin, Joanne Froggatt (Anna) revealed that her character and her husband will be in a better place than they were before after the sexual assault. But unfortunately, there will likely be some strings attached.

Series To Take On An Entirely Different Style?

"Anna and Bates do start season five in a more positive place than they were in season four, but obviously such an event is not something that dissipates or goes away," the actress told E! News. "It's something that people live with for the rest of their lives."

Froggatt also told The Wrap that her character is going to have some complications with what happened to Mr. Green and if Bates had anything to do with his death.

"There is sort of a question mark behind the whole situation of Mr. Green's death," Froggatt said. "I can't think of any point that Anna really believes that Mr. Bates has done it. She has this doubt in her mind because as far as she knows Bates doesn't know who attacked her, who raped her."

Froggatt is currently nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Anna.
