Agents of SHIELD's Leo Fitz is alive, but little else has been revealed about the agent's condition as season 2 approaches.

The engineer nearly gave his life to save Agent Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) during "Beginning of the End," but his fellow scientist managed drag him from the depths of the ocean and deposit him into the safety of (former) Director Fury's (Samuel L. Jackson) medical team.

However, Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) did not rejoin Coulson's (Clark Gregg) team at the conclusion of season 1. Unfortunately for worried fans, Agents of SHIELD's co-creator Maurissa Tancharoen is keeping tight lipped on Fitz's true state.

"When last we left him, we didn't know exactly what happened to him," Tancharoen told Ksite TV. "We just know he's alive."

Meanwhile, Fitz and Simmons will also need to work out their relationship following Fitz's confession that he sees his lab mate as much more than just a friend (see video below). Will Simmon's reciprocate those feelings, or will her rejection hurt more than 'a hundred punches to the stomach?'

"Let's just say, however she felt in the past now it doesn't matter because the stakes have changed and they're a lot higher for FitzSimmons' relationship," Henstridge told fans at Houston's Comicpalooza. "He is, and always will be, her main priority."
