The world's most famous baby, Prince George, is celebrating his first birthday today and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released a statement for their child's big day.

"We would like to take this opportunity on George's first birthday to thank everyone over the last year, wherever we have met them, both at home and overseas, for their warm and generous good wishes to George and our family," Prince William and Kate said.

In honor of Prince George's first birthday, here are some facts about the royal baby.

His birth weight and time was revealed on Twitter

Prince George weighed 8 pounds and 6 ounces and was born at 4:24 p.m. at St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London.

He's already broken some rules

Unlike previous royal babies, Prince George didn't spend his first days in the palace. Instead, he spent time with Middleton's family at Bucklebury. The duchess' mother, Carole Middleton, took the role as nanny for those days.

Prince George's christening had a special location

The baby's christening took place last October in a monumental place. The ceremony was held at the Chapel Royal at St. James's Palace, which is also where Prince William's mother, Princess Diana, was placed before her funeral in 1997.

He made the name George more popular

Prince George is so popular that future parents are even expected to name their newborn after the royal baby. Ancestry.com, a website that documents family history, predicted that the name George would receive a 32 percent increase in popularity in the U.K. following the baby's birth last year.

Prince George has a special nanny

Maria Teresa Turrion Borallo is the woman who takes care of the royal baby and she's trained in self-defense and high-speed driving to be able to escape paparazzi.

He's already a trendsetter

Even as a baby, Prince George is already becoming a style icon like his mom. Before the family headed to New Zealand for the royal tour in April, photos caught Prince William holding his son's kangaroo backpack and the accessory sold out quickly after. The furry backpack can be purchased at the Australian Koala Foundation website for a little less than $14.

He already landed a big magazine cover

Prince George landed the cover of Vanity Fair in honor of his first birthday. He appears on the August cover along with his royal parents. What a star!
