Was One Direction's massive success the reason why boy band The Wanted broke up earlier this year? It may not have been the only reason, but according to Wanted singer Tom Parker, it did affect the group.

One Direction Celebrates Four Year Anniversary As A Group

"For The Wanted to try and compete against one of the biggest bands in the world - One Direction - it's almost impossible," Parker told Digital Spy on July 23. "I don't think any band out there can compete with them at the moment."

Parker said that there is no animosity within The Wanted about the break and that each member had just developed other interests outside of the boy band. "I played guitar when I was younger and that kind of took a back seat when I was in the band," Parker said. "Obviously when you're in a band like that it's a product at the end of the day, and you're a boy band and that's what you do, even though we'd say, 'We don't wanna dance and we don't wanna do this.'"
