Joss Whedon is known for writing strong female characters, and The Avengers: Age of Ultron will feature even more off the director's butt-kicking women.

Where as The Avengers only featured Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) in major roles, the sequel will showcase Widow, Hill, Scarlett Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), and one other female (possibly Kim Soo-hyun's doctor character).

"There are four prominent female roles in the center of the movie and there is, I think, a more balanced presence throughout the movie," Whedon told Hey U Guys at the London premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy. "But, you know, the guys are all there, there's more of them too."

However, Whedon explained that he did not design the film to specifically feature on gender over the other.

"Hopefully it will satisfy everyone. I'm not trying to fulfill an agenda," Whedon said. "I'm interested in men and women. I'm interested in grownups who act like children, and dress like clowns, and punch each other."
