Even though he left Ant-Man and the future was uncertain for Edgar Wright, it seems like the director has righted the ship rather quickly.

Edgar Wright Attached To Post-'Ant-Man' Project In 'Baby Driver'

According to Deadline published on Friday, the Hot Fuzz director is set to adapt Grasshopper Jungle for Sony. Scott Rosenberg is adapting the young adult novel by Andrew Smith, and he's also producing with Matt Tolmach. The duo will be joined by Wright's longtime producing partner Nira Park.

Grasshopper Jungle is a coming-of-age tale about an Iowa teen who, along with his friends, causes a deadly plague that unleashes an army of human-sized praying mantises, whose hedonistic lifestyle is admired by the young protagonist.

Director Peyton Reed To Keep Some Of Edgar Wright's Visuals In 'Ant-Man'

This isn't the first project Wright has locked up since breaking away from Marvel. The director also signed on to direct Baby Driver for Working Title, based on a screenplay he wrote years ago. He is also working on his own take on The Night Stalker.

Deadline also passed along the story of how Wright came to get involved with the project. Tolmach is a big fan and he befriended Wright on Facebook. When Tolmach saw that Wright was urged to look at Grasshopper Jungle because it was such an Edgar Wright film, Tolmach wrote and said he agreed, and that he controlled the book after Tolmach and execs Michael De Luca and Elizabeth Cantillon bought it earlier this year.

Wright invited him to send a copy. That led directly to this deal, showing that not all social media is an utter waste of time.

Grasshopper Jungle has no release date yet.
