Edgar Wright saw his career take a slight step back after he stepped away from directing Marvel's Ant-Man movie.

Marvel's Kevin Feige Discusses Edgar Wright Leaving Ant-Man

However, given his track record, he was always going to bounce back, and he now has his next project. On Tuesday, Variety reported that Wright will direct the upcoming film Baby Driver for Working Title Films.

There are not many details about this project yet, but it is expected to be in the vein of Wright's other movies, so this is not going to be a departure for him. Wright will also be a part of the process of writing the film, which is standard operating procedure for Wright.

Peyton Reed's Ant-Man To Include Edgar Wright's Visuals

Wright is best known for his trilogy of films he made with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End. He also directed the film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, further solidifying Wright's status as one of the most stylistic, pop culture indebted filmmaker working today. However, Ant-Man was definitely going to be his biggest project to date.

Wright was hired way back in 2006, before the Marvel Universe was the multibillion dollar enterprise it is today. Then, in May of 2014, Wright stepped down from the project, with creative differences being the stated reason. Ant-Man is still scheduled to be released July 17, 2015, starring Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas, with Peyton Reed now directing the project. Wright will land on his feet, however, and he likely will have more leeway working on Baby Driver.
