Music is integral to Nashville, the show and the city, but in this case the show, and they are taking it to the next level to begin the third season.

Rayna Will Make A New Friend On Nashville

On Friday, Entertainment Tonight reported that the premiere of Season 3 will be a live musical extravaganza.

Yes, not only with this new episode of Nashville be live, but there will be actual musical performances during the show. Live television is rare enough as is these days. You occasionally will get a sitcom doing it, but Nashville is doing something even rarer. According to the report, this will be the first time a scripted TV drama will have live musical performances in an episode. That is an esoteric feat, but it's a feat nonetheless.

Actor Teases Nashville Season 3 Premiere

There will be two songs sung. Chris Carmack, as Will Lexington, will sing "If It's Love," while Charles Esten, as Deacon Claybourne, will sing "I Know How To Love You Now," a song he co-wrote with Deana Carter. After the episode airs, the songs will be made available on iTunes. The episode will be done twice, once for the Eastern and Central time zones, and then once more for the west coast.

This is a fairly bold venture, and it should generate some extra attention for Nashville, and the songs should generate some extra cash. The show, a primetime soap opera about the country music scene, will begin its third season on Wednesday September 24 at 9:00 p.m. on ABC. Tune in to see how the singing turns out.
