Kate Gosselin's former best friend is finally speaking up about the reality television star, and it's not pretty. According to Beth Carson, the mother-of-eight has been focusing more on fame and money than her eight children at home ever since she became a popular household name.

Carson says in a new interview that during the height of Gosselin's fame, her priorities changed drastically and it all became about "the money."

"I honestly don't have anything personal against Kate," Carson said in an interview with RadarOnline on Tuesday. "At the time her choice was to put her focus on the show and making the most money. So I felt that maybe she lost a little integrity and it was better for me and my family to take the high road and get out."

Carson added, "My interest from day one, and I think it's hard for money-minded people to believe this, was seeing that the kids got the care they needed. Once it stopped being about the kids and turned to fame and money, I was out. I really truly wanted the kids to have what they needed. It was a really easy decision for me once it stopped being about the kids to say, 'I'm out.'"

In addition, RadarOnline reported on Monday that Carson didn't get the credit or money deserved when she helped her write Gosselin's first book, Multiple Blessings back in 2008.

The book was meant to be a joint collaboration between Gosselin and her friend, but apparently Gosselin and her ex-husband Jon refused to give her a cut from the profits that she would have received for her work.

"We agreed on a 50/50 split and it was fair, although I did do all the writing, absolutely, did all the writing... it was without a doubt Kate's story," Carson told Radar. "She told me the story and I wrote it. Absolutely, I wanted to take nothing away from the fact that it was her story. But I put a lot of work into it."
