The mother of the Mills girls is coming to Sleepy Hollow, and the role will be filled by Aunjanue Ellis.

Abbie (Nicole Beharie) and Jenny's (Lyndie Greenwood) mother exited their lives when they were children, but the sisters will soon learn that Lori Mills knew about the supernatural long before they did.

"We discover early on in the season that Abbie and Jenny's mom actually had supernatural inclinations or she was also tormented by demons," Beharie told TV Line  at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con. "A lot of people misread that as being insane or being a liar. So we find out more about why Abbie is a Witness and what sort of torture Jenny has gone through.

Removed from their mother by the state as children, the Mills sisters were lead to believe Lori committed suicide in a mental hospital, according to Entertainment Weekly. However, this version of events will soon come into question.

Considering Sleepy Hollow started filming for season 2 months ago, viewers can probably expect Ellis to appear later in the season.
