Amid talk that his sister Julianne Hough might be coming back to Dancing With the Stars as a judge, popular pro Derek Hough has revealed his thoughts on criticism from the judging panel.

'Switch-Up' Twist Will Be Back In Dancing With the Stars Season 19

Derek spoke with WPBF 25 News recently where he discussed the idea of "bantering" with the judges, Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli.

"The past few seasons I have enjoyed that little banter," Derek said. "It can be the thing where if you feel like you've done a good job, and you feel good about what you've done, and you feel good about the performance, and then, say, Len says, 'Oh, I hate it. It was a hodgepodge.' Then it's actually kind of fun. That's kind of what makes the show the show."

It could spice things up even more if talk of Julianne joining as a fourth judge turns out to be a reality. Reports from TMZ claim that she is in talks to join the series for the upcoming 19th season as the fourth permanent judge on the panel.

Julianne previous guest judged in a few episodes from the past two seasons of the show and proved to be a tough but fair critic.

It is presumed that all three regular judges will be returning to the series this fall, though Goodman could miss a few episodes like he did last season due to traveling.

Dancing With the Stars Season 19 begins Monday, Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
