Things are becoming more serious on Downton Abbey, not just in the peisodes, but behind the scenes as well.

Will A Deeply Saddening Event Take Place In Season 5 Premiere?

On Thursday, The Telegraph reported that the actors have to be more careful about what they wear on set ever since an incident took place with one of the publicity photos. There was a picture of two main actors in front of a mantle that had a plastic water bottle in the back. Considering that platic water bottles didn't exist in those days, this caused people to notice.

And now, the cast is not allowed to bring anything contemporary to the set, including what they wear underneath that's visible.

"Modern watches and jewelry are out and so even is modern underwear as the danger is apparently too great it could be seen if we bend over," one of the cast members whispered.

Ever since the water bottle incident took place, the cast and crew members responded with a photo where each one of them holds a plastic bottle. While this was supposed to be a "cute" response to the controversy, it was also supposed to help raise awareness for the charity WaterAid, which is meant to provide clean water.

Series creator Julian Fellowes dished on this photo and how he actually sees the bright side of the mistake in the publicity image.

"I liked the cast's response, though, didn't you?" Fellowes said. "It was a silly mistake, of course, and I suppose someone will be blown up for it, but if the cast can turn it around and actually help to raise some money for such a terrific cause, then I'm glad it happened. Victory snatched from the jaws of defeat."
