Monday night is a big one for Netflix's breakout prison comedy-drama Orange is the New Black as the series is nominated for several big Primetime Emmys.

Orange is the New Black Season 3 Will Be 'About Faith'

Orange is the New Black is the new hot show on the block at the Emmys, having scored 12 nominations this year for its debut season. It is also primed to possibly win a few of those Emmys at Monday night's ceremony, including the big one, Best Comedy Series.

According to reputable awards prognosticating website GoldDerby, Orange is the New Black is in second place in odds for winning Comedy Series, behind four-time winner Modern Family. However, it will be a close race between them for the trophy, with Veep not far behind as a third contender.

The show's star Taylor Schilling, who plays Piper Chapman, is also second place in odds to win Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. She is second to Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who has won the past two years.

Similarly, Kate Mulgrew (who plays Red) is second in Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, behind Allison Janney in Mom. This is another close race that could go to either actress.

In Best Directing for a Comedy Series, however, Orange is expected to take home a trophy. In that category, Jodie Foster is nominated for the episode Lesbian Request Denied and she is predicted to win.

The series is also close in Best Writing for a Comedy Series, sitting in second place behind Louie for the episode So Did the Fat Lady. Orange is the New Black is nominated for the pilot episode, written by series creator Jenji Kohan and Liz Friedman.

These predictions are combined from Emmy experts, the site's editors and the site's users.

Last week, Orange is the New Black took home the gold for Uzo Aduba (Crazy Eyes) in Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. The show also received Emmys for Best Casting for a Comedy Series and Best Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series.

Tune in to the Primetime Emmy Awards at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on NBC, hosted by Seth Meyers.
