Sarah Paulson is currently filming her most difficult character ever on FX's American Horror Story: Freak Show, and the actress is now admitting just how tough it is.

Matt Bomer Set To Join The American Horror Story: Freak Show In New 'Warped' Role

Paulson is set to play Siamese twins on the upcoming season of American Horror Story. The actress will be playing both characters, Dot and Bette Tattler, and going back and forth between filming them.

"It's the hardest thing I've ever done, without a doubt, both physically and emotionally, because the way we're doing it, I go back and forth between both girls without any break," Paulson explained to Entertainment Weekly in a new report. "I'm not able to just play one thing out. I have to switch constantly. It makes me feel like patting your head and rubbing your stomach and you're not sure what you're doing anymore."

In spite of the difficulty, Paulson suggested that she is very grateful to be taking on such big roles in the new season.

"It's hard, but glorious also," she adds. "There's no other place that I'd ever get to do what I'm doing right now and that's the truth."

Paulson attended the 2014 Primetime Emmys on Monday where she was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for her role as Cordelia in Coven, the third season. She wound up losing to her costar Jessica Lange, who played Fiona in the witch-themed season.

The Emmys have been very kind to American Horror Story over the years, with Lange winning for the first season and James Cromwell winning for Asylum last year. Kathy Bates, who played Madame Delphine LaLaurie in Coven, also took home a trophy this year for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie.

Paulson has been nominated for the past two years for her roles on American Horror Story; could Freak Show be the role that nabs her a win?

American Horror Story: Freak Show is slated to premiere Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
