One thing that many fans have speculated since the first announcement of Guardians of the Galaxy was when the heroes would meet up with the Avengers for a monster team-up in the third movie for the superhero team.

Could Peter Quill's Father Be The Bad Guy In 'Guardians 2?'

According to PWMania, Guardians star Dave Bautista could be the first member of the squad headed for a team-up with the Avengers. The site reported on Tuesday that the pro wrestler is restructuring his deal to add more Marvel movies, with one being The Avengers 3.

Cinema Blend broke down what this could possibly mean with Bautista joining the Avengers, and why his involvement means a big throw down with Thanos on the way. The site said that Drax not only plays an important role in (the Infinity Gauntlet plot) in the comics, but eventually - in an arc called "Annihilation" - he winds up actually killing Thanos.

Could A 'Godfather' Star Be Peter Quill's Dad In 'Guardians 2?'

As the new report suggests, it's not hard to see how he may have a "significant" part to play in the future of the Cinematic Universe, so it's in Marvel's best interest to keep Bautista around.

While Drax may be only one member of the Guardians headed to join the Avengers, there is still a lot of time, and another movie, to possibly set-up the rest of the team coming to Earth to help out the other Marvel heroes. With the next Avengers movie set for May 2015, the third one could be even later with Marvel already setting aside multiple dates up to 2019 for future movies.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is set to open in theaters on July 28, 2017.
