The Mentalist's Simon Baker jumped into the director's chair on Wednesday to begin work on season 7's fifth episode.

Titled "The Silver Briefcase," the episode will mark the Australian actor's fifth turn behind the Mentalist camera. Now that the CBS drama is entering a truncated seventh season, it may be Baker's (Patrick Jane) last chance to direct his faux-psychic character and his FBI team.

"Can't believe we're already starting to shoot the 5th episode of the 7th season. Time's flyin!" announced Tim Kang (Cho) on Wednesday.

Set to air in the wake of "Nothing But Blue Skies," "The Greybar Hotel," "Orange blossom Ice Cream," and the previously titled "Pink Rocks," "The Silver Briefcase" is penned by Jordan Harper ("The Greybar Hotel," "Violets").

Baker has directed one episode per year since season 3, and his previous credits include "Red Moon," "Blinking Red Light," "Red Sails in the Sunset," and "My Blue Heaven."
