It looks as though Michael Douglas finally has something to feel good about, as new reports are indicating that his son Cameron Douglas might be released from jail earlier than expected. Cameron is currently serving a sentence in connection with drug charges along with conspiracy to distribute narcotics while behind bars.

So far, Cameron has been serving his sentence since 2009 and is expected to be released in March 2017. He earlier had a 2018 release date.

A source close to Michael tells Radar Online on Wednesday, "It's great news. Cam really isolated himself from everyone when he got into meth. He went to a dark place. But his family and friends are standing by him and hope he's serious about his recovering. He still has a chance to have a great life."

Michael Douglas & Catherine Zeta-Jones Split: What Caused The Seperation?

Just last month, Michael's ex-wife Diandra Douglas went on the record about their son's jail sentence. Cameron was also placed in solitary confinement for several months after failing a drug test.

She told The Daily Mail, "It's horrible that someone with money and famous parents should receive such a tough punishment" and added that he "meditated for his freedom every night for 15 minutes at the same time."

In the same interview, Diandra also says that unlike Michael and Zeta-Jones, she prefers to live a life out of the spotlight and claims that she never turned her private life into a public spectacle.

"I've never sold photos or kept money from anything and I've always given everything away to charity," she added. "I'm proud to be able to say that I've never turned my private life into show business. Too much public exposure affects children."
