With only six episodes left for Boardwalk Empire before the HBO series says goodbye for good, the play for power amongst different criminal factions has never been more intense.

Nucky Thompson Looking To 'Bring The Muscle' On 'Boardwalk Empire'

In a recent interview with Sky Atlantic (featured below), the cast discussed some upcoming rises to power and shifting alliances that will impact events to come.

For Lucky Luciano (Vincent Piazza) in particular, things are changing. The young gangster is growing into a more responsible, calculating man who has left his impatient impulses behind. "He's going about things a little differently this year," revealed Piazza.

With the rise of Luciano in New York, there will be plenty for Atlantic City's Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi) to be struggling with and he might end up running into some unexpected old faces along the way. So who will return? What will he, or she, want?

According to actress Kelly Macdonald, Margaret Schroeder might come back into Nucky's life sooner rather than later. The two are married after all, if only on paper.

"She's had some deals on the go as well that are slightly unlawful," explained Macdonald. "So there's only one person real that can get her out of trouble."

It is suggested that this "one person" she reffered to his in fact Nucky, but as the actress was careful to add, "he doesn't do anything for nothing."

Boardwalk Empire continues on HBO with its fifth and final season Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
