With the massive mutant team-up on the way, a lot of new faces could be entering the series, but one in particular could lead to the next big name talent for the X-Men franchise that could be their replacement whenever Hugh Jackman decides to leave Wolverine.

Will Jean Grey Start A New Dark Phoenix Storyline After 'Apocalypse?'

One big name in the Age of Apocalypse storyline is Cable, an all-powerful mutant who is the son of Scott Summer (Cyclops) and clone of Jean Grey. The mutant was born with telepathic and telekinetic abilities, however, the extent to which he has been able to utilize these powers have varied dramatically throughout his appearances.

Originally both were limited by his need to restrain his techno-organic infection and his powers were negligible compared to his more traditional fighting skills.

Will 'X-Men: Apocalypse' Steal An 'Avengers 2' Character?

In the comics, Cable worked for both the X-Men and Apocalypse in varying roles, but it is more likely in the movie, he will side with the X-Men as he is one of the only mutants who is strong enough to defeat Apocalypse.

But what happens after the movie? Depending on the reception to the character, it could lead to another side franchise with Cable leading the way. There are possibilities of an X-Force team that he could lead or a team-up with Deadpool, who has already grabbed a 2016 date for his own spin-off.

Either way, Cable could be the next big name for the X-Men and may be set to star in spin-offs of the main franchise rather than just popping up in those movies.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set to open in theaters May 27, 2016.
