On Saturday night (Sept. 20), Jay Z and Beyoncé gave the world --or everyone with access to HBO-- a chance to see the most-talked about concert of the summer as they brought "On the Run" to television.

This year has been no stroll in the park for hip hop's royal couple. From the infamous elevator incident, to the random "sources" that reported Beyoncé was looking for a separate place, it seemed that the two of them were headed for divorce. But, from the set list of On the Run alone, it is evident that the two will never split up.

Think about it. The entire concept of the tour is based on the strength of their love, which is so strong that it can outlast the meanest gangster, the deadliest bullet or the fastest police chase. Before the two walked out on stage, "This is not real life" flashed on their digitized backboard and the show begins.

In all of their musical glory, the two rise up from smoke and the first song that introduced their longtime love affair starts to play. '03 Bonnie & Clyde's unforgettable beat takes audiences back to their days of blowing up cars in random alleys. The new moment, just as epic and the couple, more bonafide than ever. As promised, "Nothing or no one ever came between" them.

Upgrade U and Crazy in Love continue the show, and much like their 12-year relationship, the rest is history.

From Big Pimpin' to Resenment, the songs seem to echo their personal experiences within their public union. The two are notoriously private (besides on Beyoncé's Instagram) in interviews about what actually goes on behind closed doors. Fans often accuse them of being too private, to be such big names' in the 21st century realm of celebrity. But, take a second look at the tour.

Underneath the seamless transitions, perfect costumes, chart-topping songs and the screaming voices of their sold out audience, the concept is obvious. Through hell or high water, the two of them together are unstoppable.

No matter the rumor, no matter what anyone says, it has been and always will be them against the world. The various police shoot outs, dangerous car chases and heartbreaking shoot out scenes represented the various tests they go through but in the end, it only made them stronger as a unified force.

In many ways, the people attacking them could be viewed as the media, which has not been on their side as of late. Divorce rumors have been the number one topic of the summer - or at least until the VMAs when Beyoncé teared up and Jay Z proclaimed that she was "the greatest living entertainer."

Because they are bigger than themselves at this point, the two have a certain responsibility to their fans that could be downright suffocating. Even in moments of turmoil, frustration and Resentment, the couple moves forward, inspiring the Insta-masses along the way.

The end scene of concert is filled with intimate moments of their wedding and moments with their greatest possession, Blue Ivy. "This is real life," flashes across the screen and the two thank each other for staying on the ride.

The entire concert may not have been "real life" until that very moment, but art certainly has to get its inspiration from somewhere.

So whether the tour was a brilliantly planned PR stunt to show the world that they are not divorcing, the two certainly put on quite a show. One that, for as long as they stay together, fans will always tune in to see.
