While there has been much speculation over the past few years about CBS's Big Brother doing an All Stars season, the show's host has essentially dismissed it.

Dr. Will Kirby Returns To 'Grill' Jury Members In 'Big Brother 16' Finale

Big Brother host Julie Chen spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the possibility of an All Stars season within the next few years.

"I don't think so. I mean, look at the ratings for this past season - higher than last year, all new people," Chen explained. "Look, we love the Will Kirbys, the Mike Boogies, and the Janelles, and they will always have a special spot in our hearts. And maybe they'll make an appearance in some sort of stunt, but I think the beauty of this game is showing true fans who have never played it, who have played it just from their armchair at home, have a stab at it and realize, wow, I had no idea what I was in for."

She noted that the Big Brother game is kept more pure in the way, especially in seeing the surprise from fans of the show who become players who realize that the game is more difficult than they could have imagined.

"Even the die hard fans who know, 'Oh, this is the game where they are going to test our memory of this and that' - even those people, they crack under pressure and are like, 'I thought it would be much easier because I'm an uber fan and it wasn't easier at all.' And I think you want that, and you lose that element if you bring people that have lived in that house before."

A lot of the speculation about an All Stars season came after the finale of Big Brother 15. Last summer's season was the home of much negative attention from the press due to several racially charged and homophobic remarks made by some of the houseguests.

Fans theorized that the Big Brother producers may have wanted a controlled group of players who had played before and knew not to say anything too offensive. However, Big Brother 16 featured all new players who were pretty much the exact opposite of the abrasive contestants featured in Big Brother 15. As such, Big Brother 17 will likely feature all new players yet again.

Big Brother has only had one full All Stars season, back during Big Brother 7. Since then, a number of players have returned to the game, though they were always mixed in with newbies.

The finale of Big Brother 16 airs Wednesday night at 9:30/8:30c on CBS.
