While it has been a trend with young adult adaptations recently, could the two-part finale begin to happen with superhero movies and could Marvel start the trend with a two-part finale for the third Avengers movie, which would include the Guardians of the Galaxy?

Will The First Look At Doctor Strange Come During The 'Avengers 2' End Credits?

The Daily Marvelite released the rumor on Friday that Avengers 3 could be a two-part movie that splits the story up and includes a second movie with a massive crossover with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

The site reported that according to their source, Marvel is considering the option (as of last year but have now made a decision) of having Earth's mightiest heroes begin the battle in Avengers 3, coming out May 2018, only to be concluded in an untitled May 3rd 2019 movie.

Is The Son Of A DC Character Headed To 'Guardians 2?'

They added that it wasn't clarified if the story would be a two-part narrative or if it would just be split-up in order to accommodate adding the Guardians into the second movie. This seems to line up with comments made by Guardians star Vin Diesel a year ago when he mentioned that he talked with Marvel about "merging the brands."

If this happens, it could also mean the inclusion of other heroes getting a movie within the timeframe like Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, and Black Panther, which would make this movie one of the most massive events of all-time.

The Avengers will next be showing up in Age of Ultron next year, with the Guardians coming back in 2017 for their sequel.
