With the Sinister Six movie leading into the next Spider-Man standalone, it would seem likely that the web-slinger would show up in both. But could the third movie be the last act for Andrew Garfield as the hero?

'The Equalizer' Star Teases Role In 'Sinister Six'

With the Sinister Six movie teaming up most of Spider-Man's most well-known villains as they try to re-take New York City from the hero, it will also be a film that will set-up how each of the villains came to be, allowing the next Spider-Man movie to be just about that villain and the hero.

But this could also lead to the saga following a plot called "The Death of Spider-Man," which would allow current actor Andrew Garfield to hang up the role, and allow for re-casting for the future of Sony's new Spider-Man universe.

Will A Past Spider-Man Villain Return For More In 'Sinister Six?'

The plot of the series centers around Green Goblin's plot to finally rid the world of Spider-Man after S.H.I.E.L.D. is occupied and can't help the hero. Of course, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) was a key part of the last Spider-Man movie and will most likely re-appear as a founding member of the Sinister Six.

By doing this plot, it would allow Sony to get Garfield out of the franchise and let them re-cast the role of Spider-Man with Miles Morales taking over the lead.

Sinister Six is directed by Drew Goddard and is set to open in theaters on November 6, 2016.
