Without another Iron Man movie in place, it seems like the writing on the wall is that Robert Downey Jr. is done with the role in standalone movies and will complete the Avengers films before hanging up the suit. But the actor doesn't seem to agree.

Is Robert Downey Getting Ready To Dump Iron Man After His Contract Runs Up?

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday to promote his new film, The Judge, Downey Jr. talked about playing Iron Man and how he wants to see the hero going forward.

"I'm sure we'll ride that thing. You've got to surf that all the way in to shore," Downey Jr. said.

"I think I was at the forefront of something that was coming into being, and I think it has carried me as much as I have informed it. That's the healthy way to look at it. It's so easy to become inflated by the successes, but what they really are are long, strong trends. It's just another wave."

It seems like Downey Jr. still has some reservations about hanging up the role that put him back on the map and also brings him in some of the biggest bucks in all of Hollywood.

While he is set to return for the next Avengers movie and is signed on for the third movie, whether it is two movies or not, it seems like if the right story came along and he could get behind it, the actor would like to do a fourth Iron Man movie.

But there is always the idea that he could join another franchise and not have to carry the whole film like he has done three times. Some of the best Tony Stark/Iron Man moments come when he is apart of The Avengers, so maybe a team-up could work.
