It's official.  Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are separated and allegedly heading for divorce.  According to various sources and interviews conducted within the past week, the pair is doing their best to move on in their own directions.

Is Mariah Carey Seeking Love from Another Man?

After video of the less than flattering vocal performance of Mariah Carey hit the internet, fans and even gossip-host Wendy Williams blamed the mishap on Carey's stress over her recent split with Nick Cannon.  But, according to a new interview with Extra TV, neither of them have worried or lost sleep over what everyone is buzzing about.

"At the end of the day, the media likes to dictate-especially when they don't have information- and they try to create stories," Nick told AJ Calloway.  He continued, "We are in contact constantly... You know, you might have an off night here and there but she's one of the greatest performers and entertainers of our time."

Since news of a brewing separation started to spread in August, the two have not been seen together and it does not look like the parents of twins Roc and Roe are going to get back together.  Cannon recently covered up the large tattoo of her name on his back and also revealed that it's not even finished on the red carpet of the "Addicted" NYC premiere.

"It wasn't supposed to be revealed yet," Cannon said.  "It's tough out here... It's real painful."

For now, the two are choosing to focus on their careers.  Nick Cannon's "Drumline 2" is coming to VH1 and Mariah Carey is on tour.
