It looks as though Amal Clooney had a real reason as to why she dropped her maiden name for George Clooney. Apparently, the highly successful lawyer wasn't too keen on Alamuddin being her last name, and that is why she made the switch to her husband's moniker.

According to the Irish Independent on Monday, Amal simply made the switch because she wasn't "precious" about her family name.

An insider close to the British beauty said, "A lot of people wondered if Amal would take George's name because she's such a strong, successful woman in her own right. But it's precisely because she's so secure in her own position that she's not precious about her surname. She loves George and is proud to be his wife. Why hide that?"

Ashley Tisdale Gets Married, See The Photos

Just last month, Amal was criticized for changing her last name from Alamuddin to Clooney after she got married to George in Venice last month.

The name change was first noticed on her law firm's website on the day that she headed back to work in Athens on Monday to discuss how Greece can get back the Parthenon marbles from the British Museum.

Many critics are saying that the name change is "anti-feminist" and "backwards and subservient" to tradition while others are saying that Amal is "giving the impression that her name isn't as valuable as his."

So far, Amal hasn't made any public comments about the name change to the media. She and George tied the knot in Venice just last month.
