George Clooney didn't expect to find love again until he met his wife, Amal Clooney, so he would casually speak about her in interviews.

The "Ocean's Eleven" actor rarely talks about his personal life. However, in his interview for GQ's Icon of the Year issue in 2020, he gushed over his wife, even if unprompted, and returned to the subject without being asked. Here are the things he said about Amal in his interviews.

Amal makes George happy

George was previously married to Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993. It took him two decades to tie the knot again because he initially thought a married life was not for him. However, when he met Amal, he married her because he knew he would be happy with her.

"I've never been happier in a relationship by any stretch of the imagination," he told Esquire of Amal. "At 52, I found the love of my life, and I'm really happy."

In another interview with People, George spoke about how his married life changed him.

"I'm a much happier person, and we have a very happy life. We enjoy many of the same things, and I very much enjoy the projects that she takes on because they have real consequences," he added.

George says his wife is smart

George mentioned in his interview with Harper's Bazaar how they resolved their arguments. According to him, they do it by arm wrestling for a reason.

"The only way we resolve anything is by arm wrestling. That is my only chance of winning anything with her because if it's an intellectual battle, I would lose," he said. "She's the smart one in the family."

Amal is a Lebanese and British barrister. She represents notable clients, including the President of Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed; WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange; former Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Tymoshenko; Iraqi human rights activist Nadia Murad; and the journalists Maria Ressa and Mohamed Fahmy.

In another interview, he joked that she was out of his league. He also acknowledged that everyone probably thinks the same.

Amal is fashionable

George knew that his wife was not just intelligent but also beautiful. They have been spotted multiple times on the red carpet, and the gorgeous lawyer would usually turn heads. Clooney said she dressed up effortlessly.

"She just picks up clothes, and I'm like, 'That's unbelievable,'" George said of Amal's fashion style, per Entertainment Tonight.

George joked about being reduced to Amal's plus-one

There is no question about George's popularity in Hollywood. The award-winning actor has starred in multiple movies and even directed some. However, in one interview, he joked about how his career was reduced to being her plus-one.

"My entire career has been reduced to a plus-one now," he shared. "I did one of those Women in Film things a couple years ago, and I had to introduce myself as 'Amal Clooney's husband' because, honestly, I was dead otherwise."

Amal is a brilliant lawyer but can't cook

George and Amal attended the Los Angeles premiere of Amazon's "The Boys in the Boat." In an interview at the event, he praised his wife as a lawyer but also joked about her lack of skills in the kitchen.

"My wife, who is a brilliant lawyer -- she's one of the great advocates of the world; she takes on ISIS and all these things -- but I better be doing the cooking, or we will all die," he jokingly told Extra.

George and Amal started dating in 2013, and they tied the knot a year later. They are now parents to 6-year-old twins Alexander and Ella.
