The list of new Fall 2014 shows being given the axe has been surprisingly small, but reports claim that FOX's teen dramedy Red Band Society may be the next show to get cancelled.

According to TV By The Numbers, the series, as well as other FOX rookies Mulaney and Gracepoint, are certain to be cancelled after low viewership numbers. While rookie drama Gotham and other network staples including sophomore shows Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Sleepy Hollow score high on the show's Renew/Cancel Index , the three shows all rate much lower, scoring just an 0.52, 0.58 and 0.61.

If Red Band does get cancelled, it would become the second show of the Fall season to get cancelled, after ABC made the first move to cancel a new show on October 24, removing Manhattan Love Story from its lineup after four episodes.

However, according to Variety, the show has a chance to stay because it has been doing exceptionally well with DVR ratings, despite low Nielsen ratings each week. While Manhattan Love Story did slightly better with a 1.3 rating in adults 18-49 after its Sep. 30 premiere, it proved to be the smallest Live +7 gainer that week, only rising an additional 0.2, and failed to get more than a 0.7 same-night rating in its last episode-prompting ABC's decision to cancel the series.

Red Band in the meantime, did only a 1.1 same-night rating the same week that Manhattan Love Story received its 1.3, but was able to shoot up to a total of 1.9 rating in the L+7 numbers-something it has managed to do steadily. Fox may not consider cancelling the show just yet because while viewers don't tune in as much when the show airs on Wednesdays-preferring stand-by shows like Modern Family and Criminal Minds on ABC and CBS during that timeslot-they appear to have made the show a focus for later viewings-showing there is a loyal fan following for the series.

Though there is no confirmation on the show's status thus far, FOX has ordered additional scripts for the series.

Red Band Society returns to FOX Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 9 p.m.
