She's been off the Salem canvas for a few years now, but after a trip to Europe for some time away, Melanie Jonas (Molly Burnett) is back on Days of Our Lives.

Daniel's (Shawn Christian) daughter left town two years ago to spend time with her mother in Europe, after getting caught up in significant amounts of drama with her friends, Abigail (Kate Mansi) and Gabi, as well as her ex-boyfriend Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn). Now however, she is back in Salem for the first time since everything happened-and she will be in for a shock when she sees how everything has changed.

Since she left, her father's marriage to Chloe ended, and he is now once again single. She will also notice that Abigail and Chad are trying to be friends again, but have both moved on with a pair of new siblings in town-Chad is dating physical therapist Jordan (Chrishell Stause), while Abigail is dating bartender Ben (Robert Scott Wilson). She will also learn upon her return that Will (Guy Wilson) and Sonny (Freddie Smith) are now married, though Will is in L.A. and Gabi is in prison for murdering Nick.

However, Melanie could have a few surprises of her own to unveil when she arrives back in town-and could shock everyone by what she brings with her to Salem.

Meanwhile, her father will find himself growing closer to Nicole (Arianne Zucker) again, after the two decided to finally rebuild their friendship. However, sparks may just fly between the two once again-allowing them to both move on from their failed romances with Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) and Eric (Greg Vaughan).

Days of Our Lives airs Monday-Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
