Outside of the X-Men series, the spin-offs starring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine have been the most popular films in the franchise that doesn't have many other outside films. That is set to change with a Deadpool and Gambit movie coming soon, but could a Magneto one be next?

With The 'X-Men: Apocalypse' Villain Cast, Are His Minions Coming Next?

Michael Fassbender, who has played the role in the last two movies, seems to be interested in taking the character to the next step and may look at the role as a way for him to continue to bring in revenue and become the next Wolverine in the franchise. His character is already a fan-favorite so why not dive into his past more?

During the summer, Fassbender did an interview with IGN that could highlight his interest in turning in a solo act for Magneto in the future.

'X-Men: Apocalypse' Has Cast Its Villain, But Why Should We Be So Excited?

"X-Men's been great to me and allowed me to do so much, including films like Frank. I've had a lot of fun with the cast and with the character, Magneto," he said.

"So I had a good chat with Simon [Kinberg] when we were on our way to Moscow, and we tossed around some ideas on the plane over there. So I'm pretty excited to see how it all comes together."

Kinberg is the writer of the last four X-Men movies and could always be the one to pen the spin-off, but while Fassbender is looking to maybe add this subplot into the next movie, maybe they could shift it to a spin-off movie all his own.

As for franchises, X-Men is the only one he has as the Assassin's Creed one he is working on has not started anything yet. While he waits for that, the actor may just go back to what he knows works and do a Magneto spin-off.
