It must just be killing people to know who Daniel Bruhl is playing in the third Captain America movie, but recent speculation has pointed towards the actor playing a reincarnated version of Red Skull. But what does the original actor have to say about that?

Here Are The Characters Marvel Will Have Appearing In 'Captain America 3'

In an interview on Friday with The Hollywood Reporter to promote his new film, The Mule, Hugo Weaving briefly answered whether or not he had heard from Marvel about a return.

"I have absolutely no idea," Weaving said. "I haven't talked to anyone about it, so, yeah, we'll just have to wait and see. No idea at all."

Weaving has previously been hostile before about returning to the role in a future Marvel movie, but also made the comment to Collider in an interview two years ago that he was contractually obligated.

"I did that for Captain America. I think the tendency, with those films, would be to probably not bring a villain back. They might for The Avengers, but I didn't think I'd be in Captain America 2 or 3. I don't think Red Skull will be there. And it's not something I would want to do again," Weaving said.

"I'm glad I did it. I did sign up for a number of pictures and I suppose, contractually, I would be obliged to, if they forced me to, but they wouldn't want to force someone to do it, if they didn't want to."

There is no word what his contract may have been, but that could include at least one more appearance in Captain America 3. If so, maybe Weaving could be passing the mantle to another actor, which is where Bruhl comes to play.
