After winning an Oscar, it seems like the next step that Jared Leto will be taking is into the superhero genre. But is the actor confirmed for the role or are there still a few hoops to jump over?

Jim Carrey Almost Played This DC Villain Before, Could He Try To Do It Again?

In a profile with The Hollywood Reporter on Saturday, Leto talked about the recent rumors concerning him playing The Joker in David Ayer's Suicide Squad, and possibly more DC movies in the future.

All the actor had to say about those rumors was "I've sworn to keep my mouth shut." But all this does is fuel the rumors even more.

Guillermo Del Toro Has Finished A Script For These DC Anti-Heroes, But When Will We See The Movie?

The Hollywood Reporter added on Monday that the filming of Suicide Squad will happen in Toronto over the course of next summer and that it seems like a cast of Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, and Leto could be in place. Will Smith is still up-in-the-air about his contract or role.

It makes sense that Leto is unable to talk about the movie because Warner Bros. is probably waiting for a special time to announce that the recent Oscar-winner is joining the cast as one of the most famous villains in DC history. It also helps that the role has not been played by anyone since the late Heath Ledger's performance in The Dark Knight.

The proposed plot for the film is expected to be about the Suicide Squad trying to break The Joker out of Arkham Asylum. While that means Leto probably won't be in much of the movie, it is expected to be a sort of tease for an expanded role in future movies.
