With production set to get started next year on the new Captain America movie, the working title that the film will be under was revealed and it could have some ties to the comic storyline that deals with the death of Steve Rogers.

Did Chadwick Boseman Just Hint That Black Panther Could Be Seen Sooner Than 'Captain America 3?'

Comic Book Movie uncovered a list on Production Weekly on Thursday that showed that the working title for Captain America 3 would be Sputnik.

Sputnik is famous due to it being the same name of the first artificial Earth satellite that the Soviet Union launched into space in 1957. It also triggered the space race between the United States and the former Soviet Union.

How Much Iron Man Will There Be In 'Captain America 3?'

As for the comics, Comic Book Movie said that in the Death of Captain America storyline, "Sputnik" was also used as a "one-time only shutdown code" against the Winter Soldier, a.k.a. Bucky Barnes, which was implanted by his Soviet Masters. This particular issue had Winter Soldier taking on Crossbones, S.H.I.E.L.D., as well as Tony Stark's Mighty Avengers operative following the death of Steve Rogers.

This fits perfectly with the story that is supposedly being crafted for the movie with Tony Stark and Crossbones included. It could also hint at the Winter Soldier being a type of Sputnik for the Civil War as he could be the thing that breaks the feud between Stark and Steve Rogers. It also deals with the pitfall of the last movie and the Winter Soldier finding out more about who he is.

This is an interesting development for the movie and could mean that the whole Civil War plot and Winter Soldier plot will come together in a way that we weren't anticipating.

Captain America: Civil War comes out on May 6, 2016.
