With Showtime's latest look at Penny Dreadful comes the possibility that Miss Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) and the infamous Dorian Gray (Reeve Carney) may not be through with one another just yet.

'Penny Dreadful' Photo Hints At Upper Class Storyline 

As production for the Victorian supernatural drama's second season continues in Dublin, Showtime released a new montage of Vanessa's scenes from season 1 (featured below). Entitled A Formidable Beauty, this collection of clips shares some of Vanessa's most powerful moments, from the hopefulness of her youth to season 1's demonic possession.

One thing that remains striking however, is how many of these scenes feature Vanessa with Dorian. The pair indeed split at the end of season 1 after Vanessa realized that intimacy with him triggered her possession, but it seems like Showtime is looking to remind fans of their "rare connection."

Egyptian Lore Could Be Key To 'Penny Dreadful Season 2 

Dorian will be getting a new love interest for season 2, though this character has yet to be revealed. Nonetheless, it's possible that the pair might not be as done with one another as they might have thought.

Vanessa had broken Dorian's heart when she rejected him at the end of season 1 and while the pair could reunite in upcoming episodes, the reunion might not even be of a romantic nature. Vanessa's draw towards the unusual may bring her closer to discovering Dorian's portrait. Of course the portrait was kept hidden throughout season 1, but it's possible that the new episodes could be working towards a big reveal. If this is the case, then Vanessa could have something to do with it.

Penny Dreadful returns on Showtime for a second season in 2015.
