Eva Green is known for portraying the dark-haired, mysterious Vanessa Ives on Showtime's Penny Dreadful, but if it were up to the actress she'd like to try a very different look.

 "Oh god… If I could, I'd have a hairstylist living at mine, who does it for me every morning," admitted Green in the Belfast Telegraph during a recent interview.

"I've been dyeing my hair since I was fifteen," added the actress, who naturally has dark blonde hair. "I'd love to try going platinum blonde. Unfortunately, it's so bad for your hair. I suggested it to my hairdresser and he said, 'Well, okay, good luck.'"

While the star may show off some stunning red carpet looks, styling at home is something completely different. "In that sense, I'm just like a man," said Green. "I spend absolutely no time whatsoever on my everyday look. I do it like this: shake hair upside down, tie it up, done."

No wonder the Showtime star wants a full-time hairstylist living with her. "At home in the mirror, everything looks great," she explained. "Then the flash photography starts up and with the light complexion and the dark hair, you look like you're in a horror movie."

"I have to be careful not to look like a ghost in pictures," she added in reference to her red carpet appearances.

Fortunately for Green, looking like a ghost is one of the elements that helps make Vanessa most striking in Penny Dreadful. With a formidable gaze and intriguing persona, Vanessa certainly gets attention onscreen.  

Penny Dreadful returns on Showtime for a second season in 2015.
