Once Upon a Time show runners Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz spoke with Zap2It recently about a variety of topics surrounding the second half of the season, including why Will Scarlett, a.k.a. The Knave, has appeared in Storybrooke.

"We will give you more Will Scarlett, more of his background and play a larger part in the story," Horowitz said.

Additionally, Robin Hood (Sean Maguire) is set to appear in some flashbacks with the Knave.

"For us, we wanted to introduce [Will Scarlett] in the first half and slowly integrate him into our world so that the audience would start asking these questions and demand to see more of him," Kitsis said. "He's one of our favorite characters."

Speaking of Robin Hood, the show's creators suggested that the first half of the season is not the end of his story, despite him leaving Storybrooke in the winter finale.

"We're only halfway through the book!" Kitsis said.

The report observes that Robin could return at some point as the Swans and Charmings try to find the Author, who could facilitate Regina's (Lana Parrilla) happy ending through reuniting him with her.

Once Upon a Time returns for the remainder of its fourth season on Sunday, March 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
