Unsatisfied with the White Collar ending? Series creator Jeff Eastin has and alternate finale for you to mull over this Christmas.

Is A 'White Collar' Movie Possible? Matt Bomer, Jeff Eastin Talk Future Of Neal Caffrey

The USA series came to a close on Dec. 18, but the ending that played out on screen wasn't the same one Eastin planned out when season 1 began. Instead, the original finale hinged on the toss of a coin.

"The last moment was going to be a couple years in the future," Eastin explained to TV Guide. "Neal [Matt Bomer] has just gotten out. It's the first he had been off his anklet and has been a free man. He walks down and, standing at the apex [of the Flatiron Building], he's flipping a coin. He flips the coin, it comes up heads and he walks to the left and he walks down and there's Mozzie [Willie Garson] and they get into a limo and we realize that they're going to go off to be the greatest criminals."

Before viewers could get used to this idea, however, Neal would be back at the Flatiron, flipping the coin once more.

"[This time] it comes to tails, and he walks to the right and goes into the FBI," Eastin teased. "We realize that its two years later and Neal's actually taken Peter's [Tim DeKay] place at the FBI and he's become possibly the world's greatest lawman. Then we go to back to Neal at the apex of the building and he flips the coin and then the coin lands on his hand and we cut to black."

After talking with Bomer and DeKay, Eastin scrapped the enigmatic moment, choosing instead to give Neal a definitive future, one that can lead into a future film.
