Paulson's portrayal of Dot and Bette Tattler on American Horror Story has been one of the most noteworthy performances, especially from a technical perspective. The actress recently spoke about taking on the two roles with Entertainment Tonight, revealing her thoughts on acting with a twin Sarah Paulson head.

"It was actually really scary," she admitted. "Although, when I first put it on I was very excited about it because it meant I wasn't going to have to use as much of my imagination to imagine something that was almost unimaginable. And I found myself getting very nervous every time I had to take it off."

She added that it was difficult to remember when to look at her twin while performing as one or the other, so visual effects were used to make her appearance seamless.

"I'm right-handed, not left-handed, but Bette is a left-handed person and it was just all kinds of details that go in to make it look as authentic as possible and it's a pretty time consuming process that involves everyone."

Paulson only has two episodes left on American Horror Story: Freak Show. It remains to be seen if she will return for season 5, considering she was recently cast in AHS co-creator Ryan Murphy's new show American Crime Story, which is expected to air in the fall.

American Horror Story: Freak Show airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
