While The CW's Hart of Dixie is going strong for its fourth season, it looks like the show is still hanging in limbo when it comes to signing on the show for season 5 as the show continues to face cancellation rumors.

Even though the network renewed eight series for the fall, including Jane the Virgin, The Flash & The Vampire Diaries, one that was noticeably missing from the list was Hart of Dixie starring Rachel Bilson, Wilson Bethel, Scott Porter and Jaime King.

The CW President Mark Pedowitz spoke out on the networks' hesitation to bring the show back for another season.

He told Entertainment Weekly earlier this week that it is "not necessarily" going away. But he did add that it depends on how many viewers tune in before saying that if the show does have to go off the air, fans will not be disappointed by how it ends.

"We're going to look at the ratings. We'll get an opportunity to see how it plays with 'Jane the Virgin.' If it ends, [this season] is a great series finale. But we're not committed one way or another."

Hart of Dixie is currently in its fourth season. But this one is much shorter as it features only ten new episodes. Much of which is said to be because Bilson was pregnant with her first child while filming. She went on maternity leave so they had to cut the season shorter. Still, it did not help reassure fans who are still wondering what's in store for the future of the show.

Hart of Dixie airs Fridays at 8/7c on The CW.
